🧭 Orienteering
Explore the Site & Crack the Frylands Code
With two exciting courses introduced in February 2026, Orienteering at Frylands Wood is a fantastic way for groups to explore the site while testing their navigation and teamwork skills.
Starting and finishing at the office, participants use a map to locate a series of controls (checkpoints) hidden across the campsite.
At each checkpoint, teams collect letters or numbers as they work towards breaking the “Frylands Code”.
We provide site maps showing the locations of all checkpoints to help groups get started.

A Fun Navigation Challenge
Orienteering encourages participants to:
- Develop map-reading and navigation skills
- Explore the woodland environment
- Work together as a team
- Build confidence and problem-solving abilities
The activity combines outdoor adventure with exploration and discovery, making it ideal for a wide range of groups.
Self-Led Activity
Orienteering is run as a self-led activity, allowing groups to complete the course at their own pace.
Before starting the activity, group leaders must:
- Read, understand and sign the relevant Conditions of Use documentation
- Ensure participants are supervised appropriately
- Manage participant behaviour throughout the session
Our staff are always happy to explain how the activity works and help you get the most from your session.
