🐝 Beekeeping Experience
Discover the Fascinating World of Honey Bees
Based at the apiary at Frylands Wood Scout Centre, our Beekeeping Experience offers a unique hands-on opportunity to learn about honey bees, the natural environment and the important role pollinators play in our ecosystem.
These sessions are designed to build confidence, curiosity and environmental awareness through engaging outdoor learning experiences.
Beekeeping sessions are available for:

- Scouts & Guides
- Family Bookings

What Participants Will Learn
During the session, participants will explore the inner workings of a real bee hive and learn about the incredible lifecycle of honey bees.
Topics include:
- The different stages of a honey bee’s lifecycle
- What bees collect and bring back to the hive
- How honey is stored and used
- The three castes of honey bee – workers, queens and drones – and their roles within the colony
Participants may also have the opportunity to safely hold a frame of bees, helping many overcome fears while gaining a greater appreciation for these amazing insects.
A Hands-On Outdoor Learning Experience
Our Beekeeping Experience combines education, exploration and practical learning in a safe and supportive environment.
It’s a memorable way for children and adults alike to connect with nature and experience something truly different.
Safety & Requirements
- Minimum age: 5+
- Recommended age: 8+
Archery is suitable for a wide range of groups and abilities, making it one of our most popular outdoor activities.
