🕳️ Tunnels
Crawl, Explore & Take on the Challenge
Tunnel sessions at Frylands Wood take place in our purpose-built tunnel system, located next to the assault course.
Tunnelling is a fun, accessible introduction to underground exploration and is often described as a simpler, man-made version of potholing. Participants crawl through the tunnel network to reach checkpoints, complete challenges or simply explore the twisting passages – with or without torches for an extra adventure.
For safety, participants wear Petzl Panga helmets during the activity. Information about this equipment can be found in the equipment bag.
A Fun Adventure Activity
Tunnelling encourages participants to:
- Build confidence and resilience
- Develop problem-solving and navigation skills
- Work together and support each other
- Explore and challenge themselves in a safe environment
The tunnels provide an exciting experience that combines adventure, exploration and teamwork.

Self-Led Activity
Tunnel sessions are usually run as a self-led activity, allowing groups to complete the experience at their own pace.
Before starting the activity, group leaders must:
- Read, understand and sign the relevant Conditions of Use documentation
- Ensure participants are supervised appropriately
- Manage participant behaviour throughout the session
Our staff are always happy to explain how the activity works and help you get the most from your session.
